Breville HotCup Review: A super hot water bottle with a "cool" appearance | T3

Breville HotCup is exquisitely designed and well made. It is a simple instant kettle that can provide steaming H2O on demand

In this rather limited market, Breville HotCup is no different from other competitors, but it is a good small choice. If you want to try an instant kettle, its budget price tag will make it attractive, and the performance is largely accurate. This also matches the design, which is one of the better-looking examples we have seen so far. If you want a larger capacity version, you need to buy a larger capacity version, but for now, the most basic Breville HotCup is very suitable for medium-sized kitchens, and even more suitable for medium-sized households.

Breville HotCup commented in one sentence: This is an ingenious design of the instant kettle, with a reasonable capacity, and can provide steaming H2O on demand, matching the cool appearance of the design.

Instant water heaters are becoming more and more popular, and even if you are a cynical person, you may wonder why someone needs one. After all, the best kettles on the market do just as well, right? Well, I used to think so, until I started using an instant hot water gadget and it was sent to me for review. It is a very decent YumAsia model, and it is still used daily in our house.

Why do you praise something that seems to be able to do the work of a standard kettle? To be honest, we still like traditional kettles, but instant kettles provide an ingenious twist. Obviously, it is instant, which means you can use tap water whenever you need it. Some models can even reach 100 degrees. Press a button, change the settings to meet your requirements, and you have everything from a small bottle of steaming H20 to a pot, and it only takes a moment to be ready. I will detail the additional benefits of doing this at the bottom of the page.

However, there are many other examples of instant hot water equipment. For the sake of simplicity, we will call it a kettle. In fact, take a look at our best instant hot water bottle buyer's guide to see that there are many options out there, including the Yum Asian model. I just received another major example, Breville HotCup, which is a new and improved instant kettle that is even better than the original kettle included in our guide.

Breville HotCup is good value for money, with a suggested retail price of 54.99 pounds. It is often discounted by companies such as Amazon, which means it is more cost-effective. However, Breville is a very common brand, and you should be able to get it from many other stores.

For a little more money, you can get a larger-capacity 2-liter model, which can be purchased from Amazon for £64.99. You can also buy the device in Australia, usually at a suggested retail price of AU$107.27 for more discounts, especially on Amazon.

Breville has done a great job in the design of HotCup. Thanks to the brushed stainless steel effect shell, which combines an angular appearance with some subtle curves, it actually looks better than I expected. The device looks great on your countertop, and the rubber feet prevent it from moving accidentally.

Of course, apart from the metal feel of the main shell, the rest of the components are basically plastic, but this makes it relatively low maintenance cost, you can wipe it with a damp cloth from time to time. The front part of the device is where you put the cup. If it is not obvious enough, there are guidelines for the lowest and highest levels. You put the cup on the small shelf, and the water comes out from the nozzle above.

The filling device is completed from the top through a lifting opening, which is very large to reduce the chance of overflow. At the same time, in front of it is a knob, you can turn it to specify the amount of hot water you want to dispense. In front of it is a thick emergency stop button in case you just realized that your cup is too small for the amount of water to flow out. That's it. Admittedly, the water tank is not the largest, only 1.7 liters, but it is fine for the occasional cup.

If you are looking for a larger capacity, head to the Breville HotCup machine with a water tank capacity of 2 liters. Either way, there is 3000 watts of power to complete the water heating work. The size of 25.1 x 19.1 x 29.2 cm means it is quite compact and weighs only 1.75 kg.

Although the minimalist design shows the eye-catching lines of the Breville HotCup, you will soon learn about the capabilities of the device. It really doesn't have a lot, the function mainly revolves around the dial on the top of the device. This is very simple, almost no need to figure out, you can choose to specify the middle value of the large or small portion.

However, thankfully, the drip trays are detachable because they may become a bit dirty over time, especially if you live in hard water areas, which can cause all your water-based equipment to be scaled cover. Breville tried to solve this debilitating problem by adding a permanent scale filter, although time will tell whether this is really effective.

At the same time, the water tank should be able to provide about 6 to 8 cups of average hot water from a 1.7 liter capacity, and you will obviously get more from the 2 liter version. According to our tea, a total of up to 10 cups is measured. program.

I have been using Breville HotCup for some time, and it is undoubtedly a convenient version for any kitchen or home office workspace. Undeniably, the weight is a bit stingy. For me, this is one of the weaknesses of this particular model because I tend to use my YumAsia instant kettle for cleaning.

Pour a few cans of 400ml of water from it, and I can cook dinner without using a hot water faucet, so I won't start the gas boiler. This is really convenient. On the other hand, with Breville HotCup, you will have to use it only for making hot drinks. Nonetheless, its work specifically designed for Breville HotCup is still very neat. You will get almost boiling water, and a glass of water will appear after about 60 seconds.

Even better, so far, the water has not splashed everywhere, which may have happened to my loyal YumAsia unit. You need to use it a few times to get rid of the initial plastic smell common to these appliances, and it may be prudent to use white vinegar for descaling occasionally.

Overall, I found Breville HotCup to be good so far, although I want more capacity. However, if you only drink a glass of quick-boiling water for occasional brewing, then it is ideal. If the gap between the cup and the nozzle is initially too far, the adjustable shelf can further reduce any possible splashes, resulting in good results.

The device is also very easy to maintain and can be wiped easily. I also really like the fit and finish of this gadget, and the designed appearance works well on the countertop. During use, the water window will light up, and the LED around the water outlet will illuminate your cup. Convenient, for example, if you are hanging out in the kitchen in the middle of the night.

The biggest advantage of this machine is that you only need to boil the exact amount of water required. It remains to be seen how much money can be saved over time, but there are certain feel-good factors in saving water and energy, even if it is negligible in the long run. Of course I will continue to use my Breville HotCup, although it cannot replace Yum Asia.
